“For in him we live and move and have our being.”

—Acts 17:28

Sometimes we imagine the spiritual life as climbing upward toward God, but often the deeper truth is learning to awaken to the God who is already here.

Christ is present in the ordinary:

  • in the child asking for another story,
  • in the bread broken at the table,
  • in the silence before dawn,
  • in the weary prayer whispered while folding laundry.

The Eucharist reveals this mystery most fully. Jesus becomes our Daily Bread not only to visit us, but to dwell within us. He nourishes us from the inside out, teaching us that all of life can become communion.

To live “in Him” means we never walk alone through the ordinary ache of human life. Even when we feel spiritually dry, distracted, or weak, God remains nearer to us than our own heartbeat.

Today, perhaps holiness is less about striving and more about awakening to grace within each moment, to Christ present in the here and now, to the reality that every breath, every sorrow, and every joy already rests within the love of God.

Prayer

Jesus, Bread of Life,

Teach me to remain in You as You remain in me.

In the ordinary rhythms of this day, help me recognize Your presence.

May every task, every interruption, and every small act of love become a place of communion with You.

Amen.
