“Into your hands I commend my spirit; you have redeemed me, O Lord, faithful God.”
—Psalm 31:5

Are your efforts going awry? Do you ever feel that no matter how much you press on, your work bears little fruit?

There are seasons when striving only seems to tighten the weight we carry. We push harder. We plan more carefully. We rehearse the outcomes we hope to secure. And still, things do not unfold as we imagined.

In those moments, we begin to believe that everything depends on us. If we could just try harder, pray better, arrange things differently, perhaps the result would finally come.

But this Psalm teaches us another way.

To place something in God’s hands is not indifference. It is trust. It is the quiet admission that the outcome does not rest solely on our effort. We are asked to be faithful. We are not asked to be sovereign.

Some things must be carried. But they need not be carried alone.

So lay before Him what feels heavy. The unanswered prayer. The strained relationship. The work that seems unseen. Give over the part that exhausts you, the need to secure the ending.

Rest, not because everything is resolved, but because you are not its author.

The battle is already won.
So we can loosen our grip.
